Personally, having used both P+ and R4S pads, I feel the R4S pads are pathetic. They aren't really good for street driving, and you can waste them in one session at the track. Panther plus offers better value, performance and longevity. The downside (worth it) is that they will leave brake dust everywhere.

I am going to try the Axxis Ultimates next for street pads since the Master Of Brake Performance is giving his vote of confidence.

Any comments on Ferodo DS2500?

Porterfields will go to on the track.

I was very upset that I wasted the money!!

Panther Plus have worked out great.

The dust from light-duty track pads that I have used (Porterfield R4S, Brakeman #3 and Panther +) does not stain the rims, it's just a pain to clean more frequently. For your priorities (low dusting), I suggest that you stay with OEM pads or move to the Cobalt Friction GT-Plus. All of the other pads that give greater heat tolerance (Porterfield R4S, Brakeman #3 and Panther +) dust much more than OEM or Cobalt Friction GT-Plus alternatives. If you must go with a pad with greater initial bite and a bit more heat tolerance, I suggest the Cobalt Friction GT-Sport. They dust less than the ones mentioned earlier, but more than OEM or the GT-Plus pads.

Don't get the pads confused.. R4's are track pads. R4S are street pads and not appropriate for track use. Both are good pads in their intended venue.

If you want a pad that will be of any use on a track then get used to the dust. Some of the aftermarket pad compounds will stain your wheels, but they ALL dust. If you want a good compromise pad, I recommend either the Pather+ or the Cobalt friction pads. The Porterfield offerings are utter junk.

The OEM brake pads the cheapest of the bunch and unless you are actually tracking your car, these should be your first option. Simply fitting a more agressive pad materials to a stock brake system on a car with street tires will *NOT* improve your brake performance. Unless you have R-Compound or softer tires on your car, I strongly recommend saving your money and just buy another set of stock brake pads.
