Brake Squeal on new pads
I just put stainless brake lines, new street/track cobalt pads, and super blue brake fluid in my MY02. I have a little bit of spongie-ness in the new brakes. We used the vacuum method to bleed the brakes so I think that there might be some air left in the lines. I am going to bleed them again tomorrow to see if it gets rid of it. But my big concern right now is that the brakes are squealing like a banshee. I
yeah, i did the brake-in thing. 40 to 10 at light to moderate braking for 10 runs. The funny thing is, now if i go from 80 to 0, moderate braking, i hear nothing. if I go from 30 to 10, moderate, i get the squeal
could the squealing be caused by improperly bled brake lines?
It's caused by this:
new street/track cobalt pads
we used anti-seize on the back of the shims
And also what Harpoon said.
fair enough. can anyone suggest a good "street" pad that wont squeal, but if I head out to do a 2-day (novice, hehe) track event, I wont have to change my brakes between the days?
EDIT: my mistake, I meant anti-squeal. my mechanic knew what he was doing.

spongy pedal = air in the system. Air compresses while liquids do not. Keep bleeding until the spongyness is gone. Air in the system is reducing available brake pressure. Even with an anti-squeal applied to the back of the pads and shims, expect some noise from the cobalts.
