I get a single clunk when the front wheels go over speedbumps at about 5mph. I checked the subframe and alignment bolts under the car and none needed tightening. I checked under the hood and the rubber in my engine mounts has definitely broken in the 2k miles since I changed my oil. Notice the muddy spots on the filter. Can anybody tell me about the engine mounts and whether the cracked rubber would cause a clunk?

 

that yellow stuff is from the motor mount. It's leaking out that orange light fluid. Replace both left and right mounts, coz I'm sure the other one will go out too. This is the part number >> 50810-S2A-003 buy two. Good luck.

 

Thanks. The other one is starting to crack too. Would anybody recommend an aftermarket mount?

I wouldnt...not to long ago, a member in here installed innovative mounts and he ended up replacing the whole engine because the bolts punched through the block.

 

Thats because he used the wrong hardware with the mount and punched a bolt through his block.

 

didnt he use the hardware that came with the innovative mounts?

 

Look at the Inline pro mounts. Just adding an option.

 

No if you read his posts, he never received the innovative hardware so he went and bought his own. The bolts he bought were too long and he pushed through thebblock.
Inline pros are nice because they swivel making for easier clutch swaps. But they are race mounts and will vibrate like crazy.
Hardrace/Megan mounts look like the best options.

 

I changed my clutch by lowering the subframe 2k miles ago when I changed the oil. Could that have something to do with breaking the mounts? I like the idea of swivel mounts.
