Default burnt valves...all my fault..

i knew this turbo build was going way to smooth and was way to good to be true.

I put everything back together perfectly and for some unbeleivable reason adjusted the valves in the order of 1,2,3,4 instead of 1,3,4,2. Started it up and then I shut off a minute later. realized the dumb move I had made and re adjusted properly, car ran for a minute then shut off. My guess is that I had to of burned the valves, pulling the head again tonight to examine...

My question is, if the valves are burnt am I deff going to be able to tell, is there a way to examine the valve opened with the head off? This sucks, my tune date is in 10 days.

actually wait, I know a leak down test is more effective but I just tested my compression and it was perfect for every cylinder, wouldn't a burnt or bent valve not show perfect compression?

One person I know accidentally did that, but they got a blinking CEL, we adjusted them the right way and everything went smooth, no problems.

If a valve was burnt you would not have perfect compression in all the cylinders. Go ahead and do a leakdown test, and listen in the throttle body and at the exhaust tips to see if you can hear any air seeping out. Good luck!

Thanks a lot for some input man, that's good to know, I'm just really relieved that it had perfect compression. I'm running aem ems now and it doesn't show check engine lights. I'm gonna install stock computer tonight so it can show me where I'm having a mis fire, cause it just sounds like a serious misfire.

Anyone else got some input? I would really appreciate it!

you don't really know if the valves were adjusted too tight or too loose, or maybe by accident they were just right. I wouldn't speculate that they were adjusted in a manner that damaged the valves, plus you shut you didnt' drive like that under much load by the sounds of it. I'd say you are just fine. Honda aims the air-fuel to the back of the valve head, so the valves were still being cooled by the fuel spray so I doubt they got hot enough to cause damage in such a short period of time. Take it out and drive it like you intended.
