Default Buying a Used S2000 AP1 Engine

I'm looking at a used s2000 AP1 engine from a local seller and they sent me compression readings of 238,250,251,240. Does this seem normal for an engine with 111K miles? The car does run and drive in its current state but I want to make sure the car is healthy and can handle a turbo.

Thanks

looks healthy to me.

their gauge prob not calibrated properly though, those are insanely high numbers, if its psi.

you may also want to do a coolant pressure test as well.

Does anyone have any leads on a 2000-2005 S2000 engine? I'm on the fence with the one I'm looking at now due to the overall condition and the price. I'd be willing to do local pickup for a good engine.

Fram oil filter
backwards battery
plugged off evap system
oil cap lost at some point/non oem
hacked wiring
car sits out doors in the woods
throttle cable hanging out un mounted
all head shields missing
likely non original engine due to engine bay paint color
brake booster hose missing mount
air pump block off plate
cowl weatherstrip missing
relocation of both fuse blocks, likely due to turbo

While none of these things may mean anything about the engine, there is a great deal of negligence and hackery surrounding it.

Sounds like you should start selling Billman-Certified Used OEM parts to give people peace of mind when buying this stuff. Maybe you do, lol

I know I appreciate the feedback and the logic is sound. I've had quite the string of bad luck after buying my car I was able to drive it home but have replaced the clutch, turbo setup and after the engine went on the dyno I'm just trying to get a functional car to enjoy. Now to locate a good used engine...

The engine could be good, but should be inspected by the buyer or third party.

Even if the cylinder walls are trashed, compression numbers can still come up perfect.
