Thumbs up Caliper rebuild kit

I am installing Stoptech's stage 2 brake kit this week and getting my calipers coated red in the process. I figured since my calipers would be disassembled to allow for the powder coating now would be the best time to do the rebuild kits. I am planning to track my car in the coming year and drive it much harder and since it has seen some dirt roads in it's time I guess it wouldn't hurt.

What I'm looking for is a walk through or some pictures of a caliper disassembly. Search yielded nothing. I'd at least want to find someone who has done the rebuild themselves so I can rack their brain for info. I want to do it right.

Is it possible to do the project in two days?

Yes.

Do you have an air compressor? That is by far the easiest way to pop the pistons out. Be sure to have a piece of wood inserted where they come out, because they come out moving very fast. Watch your fingers.

You can pull the pads and put a block of wood in the caliper. Then pump the brake pedal and the pistons will pop out. No compressor needed, but it will make a mess when the pistons come out and brake fluid goes everywhere.

I have the service manual for the car so that should help. The tidbits of info are definitely helpful. How would you guys rate the difficulty of rebuilding the calipers on a scale of "easy" to "Sweet Jesus I'm going to push this car off a cliff."

Little or no mess using air, but of course that assumes access to air.

Most of it is easy. Reseating the dust shield is "Sweet Jesus" time, IME.

I've only done the no-air technique when I had no air available.

where do you put the air compressor with that technique? I already have the calipers off and the lines too...

You you a rubber tipped blow gun and blow compressed air though the brake like attachment point. This only works on the front calipers, rear calipers are threaded, and disassembled differently.
