Calipers seizing
Hi Guys.
I have a 2001 S2000
My rear calipers have seized, the mechanic managed to unseize them when replacing the pads, but told me they will most likely seize again, they have rusted and I would need new ones.
A few weeks later the rear driver side caliper started to seize again, it doesn't happen all the time, but after long drives, I can smell the brakes.
The front calipers have rusted quite bad, but are still functioning. I have only had the car two years, and were in that condition when I got them.
The front calipers seem fine other than the rust, do you think it will be possible for me to dismantle and try to repair all calipers my self, finishing with paint .... considering the rust?
Or would getting them refurbished by EBC be the better option ?
May even look into buying some refurbished set, all depends on whether the rust would mean a professional refurbishment rather than me attempting it myself.
Thanks for any help .

the surface rust on your calipers doesn't have anything to do with your calipers seizing. they are seizing because there is foreign material or rust buildup inside the caliper where the piston slides in. you could have them rebuilt, or just buy new ones. Also, you should check your slide pins and make sure they are clean and free of debris then add some grease to them.
