Default Cam belt/Timing chain?

Hi All,

My UK S2000 has now covered 53 thousand miles and I just emailed Honda to ask how much a cambelt replacement is and they told me that the S has a timing chain that doesnt need to be replaced. Is this correct ?as i looked in the service manual and it says that the CAMBELT should be replaced at 60,000..I dont want to argue with Honda as im sure they are correct just hope they are as it'll save the expense of changing it.

So cambelt or timing chain?

Many thanks,
Paul.

Yes the F20C does indeed use a chain. Timing chains should be changed a 120,000miles.

The Service manual doesn't list a milage interval to change the chain.

wrong. while using a timing chain, there is no service interval. you'd only replace it if the links in the chain stretch or if you are rebuilding the engine.

Maybe in the UK, their timing chains are made with rubber links?
