Default Cannot shift into gear. Clutch Master Cylinder/slave issues

Hi All,

its been awhile since I have posted. I have had MY00 s2000 for about 8 years and this is the first issue of the kind i have experienced. I cannot shift into gear with the engine running, but can when its not, so I know its the clutch. I dont see a leak from the master or slave so I was going to flush. If the flushing doesnt work replace. I have afew questions.

1) Whats the best way to flush, the bleeder is on the slave? So fill at the MC and bleed at the slave?
2) Can you post a good link to Clutch MC replacement and Slave replacement. When do you have to replace slave vs. MC
3) Where is everybody buying cheap OEM parts? I use rock auto alot but the clutch master cylinder and slave were not OEM.

Thanks!

The master leaks inside the car, under the drivers foot carpet. Based on the age of your car, I would bet your MC is shot but it could also be the slave or both. The fluid in the master looks like coffee?

To have bad master you dont have to have a lots of leaks, just look there where master joins your pedal ( rod goes into a piston, . check if there is any black oil there, if there is then your master is leaking,
If your going to change it change both at the same time,
Buy from majestichonda , dont buy cheap ebay stuff, will regret it later, at least i did.
Best way to flush is gravity bled it, then pump a bit to get rest of bubbles out.

Awesome you all are the best. As an updated. I flushed and bleed my system last night and everything is working again. I did not check behind my pedal for the leak so Ill check that today.

14 year old fluid I imagine will evaporate over time. It was black as night. My resevoir was pretty low so im sure air was in the line. Now it feels like it used to, everything shifts fine.

Im going to keep my eye on it and then just replace both the slave and master. Im assuming I can just reuse the bolts, any washers or little odds and ends that I will need?

The black is normally the seals melting into the fluid.

Yes, you can reused all of the parts when you swap out the MC/SC.
