It's engaging, you are just still in the process of realizing the s2000 is slow as hell.

you dont suppose to feel a kick when vtec engages..

its suppose to provide a smooth more linear powerband...

Agree^^^. The more VTEC "kick" you feel, the worse. Ideally, it would shift over from low-rpm lobes to high-rpm lobes when power/torque on either is identical. Hence, ideally, NO kick whatsoever.

Smooth is better. The jolt means your just making less power till then...

i've never owned a honda before this one, so i might not be the best judge. I can feel the v-tec kick in yo, but never has one of my passengers been able to distinguish the kick. It's somewhat subtle.

i suppose it's a good thing u didn't get an ap2, the kick is even more subtle.

after owning 2 type-R you should know the massive vtec rush is 90% psychological

on the serious side, 2 liter is about a quart low, which isn't that bad but if you feel bad not checking it out then do a leak down and compression check

btw i am still waiting for my massive vtec kick after three honda

The one poster was right when he said a lot of it was psychological!

Also, realize that if you're previous cars had any air intakes installed, that make the sound change much loader, which increases you butt dyno feeling.

Most S2k owner don't have an air intake cause it really doesn't add much hp.
