I put my car into the shop two weeks ago while I was off doing field training, I got it out Friday night and as I was driving home I tried shifting from 5th to 6th and it will not shift down into 6th. I thought maybe it was me and tried it again but nope it won't. All the other gears 1-5 and R are good.

I'm no expert mechanic so I have no idea what could be wrong here, need some pointers to shoot me in the right direction to get this fixed please!

 

Well, the 5-6 shift is actually an upshift.


What kind of work was done on your car at the shop? Anything transmission related?

 

did some hamfist test drive your car? did it work before you took it to them?

 

The only work they did for me was change my rotors, rims and exhaust while I was gone. No transmission work was done that I am aware of and yes it worked before I took it in. The only thing I can think of until I get under the car is possibly a bend rod or broken linkage but thats a little beyond my experience.

 

It must have been 1 heck of a test drive.
