Update- didn't run the code yet but I pulled the plugs and coils and I saw some oil on the #2 coil. Does that mean anything? Decided NOT to bring back to the dealer and have my mechanic friend take a look first.

Forgot to add this- I dropped the car off at my friends house to get a bumper painted. He drove it about 30 miles to his shop. The noise started when I picked it up after paint. Could the above symptoms be caused by an overrev?

I wouldn't have any other mechanic open up or inspect the engine, the dealer might place the blame on someone else.

have the dealer fix their own mess.

you said they gave you the car with no oil...how far did you drive it with no oil?

^^ I drove about a mile and got a check engine light and had it towed back to the dealer then sat on my a** for 4 months until they installed a new one.

I pulled the code-
P0336---------Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit/RangePerformance

I'm just not sure what that means

I don't know either but CRANKSHAFT POS A might infer a bearing.
I with the "take it back to the dealer" crowd. There is presently nothing they can mess up and hopefully they learned from their past mistakes.

The crankshaft positioning sensor is here:
(in red)
P0336 means it's out of range, maybe loose connector, dirty connection and or broken-but-not-all-the-time sensor.

I hope this helps you.

Nice- thank you. I'm getting my TCT changed and timing reset. I'll keep you posted when my mechanic digs a little deeper.

Btw when my friend picked it up with the tow truck we fired it up to listen to it. I put my hand on the valve cover and I could feel a lot of vibration coming all the way from the front (where the TCT is) but all the valves SOUNDED ok. We tried to start it later on and it wouldn't go, which got me really worried. Def not a battery issue.
