Default Car Won't Start - Can't Even Push the Start Button

Hey, all!

I was using my car this morning and everything was fine. Got home, parked her in the garage at about noon, and then at about 3:30pm, she wouldn't start. I can push the clutch in about 95% of the way and then there's a clicking sound before it goes down the rest of the way. At that point, the brake doesn't go in at all. It's like it doesn't recognize that the clutch is all the way in. I did notice that there appeared to be some cracked plastic on the floor mat (almost like a thick washer type plastic piece that was sort of off-white/cream in color).

With the clutch pushed in, I can shift gears w/ no difficulty.

Any ideas or things I should check?!

Thanks!

Update: While I won't say that I solved the problem, I will say that I figured out a work-around (with the help of my dad) and excuted it this morning! Thanks for this thread for the idea: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/619...switch-bypass/. I feel a bit like MacGyver!

The broken plastic pieces look to be the thickness of what's identified by the arrow on the right (that points to the left). Although that (below) is more white; mine's more cream-ish.
