Default car wont start, updated

ok so friday i was coming home from work, and my belt snapped, I soon realized it was becuse of thurs night i playing around and i forgot to put a washer on the idler pully so the bareings sized and the belt snapped. so I thought to my self i still have enough juice to make it home, my car is lowered and doesn't agree with tow trucks. on the way my car also started to over heat and i ended up putting cold water in and it was fine ( a completely differant problem just thought i would toss it out there also was told cold water was a bad idea) so yesterday i fixed the pully and the belt and charged the battery overnight today i go to start the car it wont start does anyone know if i killed the battery all the way down that it would not hold a charge enough to start the car anymore? and/or is there a way to test this? it is a newer battery came with the car at least over a year old. thanks for any help.

The over-heating is not a separate issue. The drive belt also runs the water pump as it does on most cars.

You may have warped the head with the over-heat. Run a compression test.

As far as putting cold water in the radiator...it should have had little effect without the water pump to circulate it. Now if you poured cold water on the engine to try to cool it, then that was not such a good idea and your head is most probably warped if it wasn't before.

As for the car not starting...is the car turning over or do you get nothing? If nothing, try jump starting to see if it will turn over. If the head is badly warped, you may not be getting enough compression to allow the car to start. But it should at least turn over.

I have jumped it or at least tried it does turn over, but will not start. I thought the water pump was run off the timing chain? or is it that pully below the alternator, but above the ac. No I know putting cold water on the engine would not be a good idea, but it was put into the rad and overflow can as the rest stop only had cold water, the car was also given about 20 mins to cool off with the hood open before i started it again, it was at 2 bars when i started then bounced between 3 and 4 bars but never went higher.

the serp. belt runs the h20 pump, not the chain.

good luck!

I you got them hot enough to melt, then you should replace them.

Injector plastic may have melted too.

Dear drhess06259,

Everybody here is so kind to you and offering good advice, but I believe somebody needs to break it to you:

Most likely, your engine is completely destroyed.

I feel sorry for you. I hope I'm wrong! Good luck!

I'm not going to say the motor is likely destroyed.

This is why they have head bolts. Only way to tell is run compression and leakdown tests.

ok did a cold compression test it was 65-15-0-65. I know the car overheated, I am pretty sure it is the headgasket ( or maybe hoping it's just that) anyone else have any other ideas? I don't think the rings would have blown. I also noticed that the coils on #2 was a little off and #3 was melted at the bottom near the plug.
