I've recently got concerned about bodily harm, personally and the car too, from a driveshaft failure. I've looked at carbon fiber options but no one has on the shelf carbon fiber shaft for the s2k.

Does anyone live near these people or want a carbon fiber driveshaft?

I think that Spoon makes a CF driveshaft for the S2000. I'm sure it's very affordable too... (heh)

if you check the above websites, most carbon fiber driveshafts are around USD 900. This technology is becoming more affordable than most of us use to think.

The cf driveshaft would greatly improve safety, unsprung weight and power/weight ratio.

I understand the benefit to acceleration by decreasing the angular momentum of drivetrain components but what is the safety benefit? Do you think the torsion loads are high enough to shear the shaft in half. From my experience with automobiles it looks quite sturdy.

 

Last time I checked, it was $5K from Spoon.

 

i already talked to acpt before and already made a couple CF driveshafts. the stock weighs 15lb, the ACPT cf one weighs 13lb and costs $1200. So the 2lb savings is something you will not even notice.
