Default Catch can filling up quick

I took my car for a few drives and boosted it a few times and noticed today that oil was coming out the top of my catch can. I took it off and it was filled maybe half ways or so.

Is there any way to fix this issue? Should it be catching this much stuff ? I have an ap2 with ap1 valve cover. My can is baffled. I think it could be because how I have it mounted. I am thinking that if this is the issue I can Move my can to where the cruise control box was originally and use the pcv and front breather ports for the lines

Also I should mention when I first had the can I had my ap2 valve cover on and I had the can in the same spot that you see above. I used the front breather port and pcv port for this. I never caught much using this way .

I've haven't seen many valvecovers vented in that location before. You might be sucking raw liquid oil being splashed around, plus the engine is slanted to that side and there isn't a baffle in that side of the valvecover. I've seen catch cans fed off the driver side of valvecovers and some off the front of the covers. Was your ap2 valvecover vented on the same side ?. Ap2 valvecovers have a better baffle design that reduces sucking of raw liquid oil, but that baffling is all on the driver side of the cover where crank vapours are routed as that is what you want to vent.

I didn't have my ap2 cover like this with the bungs . I'll try to see if I have pictures

I used the pcv port and the front breather port.

I think you would be better off going with the other setup to reduce sucking in raw oil, it's worth a try IMO.

You are tapped into the "low side" of the valve cover. That is not a good place. The front or the other side is where you want to tap for vent lines.

Update/ drove 60 miles to get some stuff done. My catch can was filled up again with the way I had if before. Also all my spark plug tube seals were in wrong so they were filled with oil. I don't know if that had anything to do with it ?

I've never run a catch can setup on a boosted car, perhaps you should ask around the boost guys to find out for sure. From what I see of your setup you don't have a source of suction. On a naturally aspirated setup I would have the catch can located in the pcv line between the pcv valve and the intake manifold, so you have a source of suction to pull vapours through the catch can trapping the solid oil, and the catch can was a sealed unit.

With the setup you have I don't even see how you are getting anything pulled towards the catch can without a source of suction,so I think you are just getting raw oil splashing or being pushed from internal pressure within the engine and cover. The pcv valve you have in place would be closed without suction on the end of it to open the internal spring/valve. I guess on a boosted setup guys don't want any oil vapours going into the intake manifold for detonation concerns but that eliminates your source of suction.

With your boosted setup you are likley getting increased amounts of blow-by around the rings and under the pistons creating pressure in the crankcase and pressurizing air out of the engine and taking liquid oil with it.

Maybe I will get rid of my pcv on this by getting a 90 degree fitting. This might help with the flow and reduce pressure.
