Default CDV ?

Clutch Delay Valve. I have a 04 ap2 and was wondering what is the purpose of this. I hear it is better to take it off, is this true? What advantage will be obtained by doing so? What colud be a disdvantage? Is it hard to take off? How do you do it?
Thanks guys.

Its purpose is what it's called. It delays the clutch.

It slips the clutch on rapid shifts. It helps protect the drivetrain from the shock of hard shifts...especially the diff.

Removing it allows power to more rapidly be transferred from the engine to the rest of the drivetrain when shifting, which can make the car quicker.

True.

It also puts more stress on the drivetrain. I think Honda did too many diff and tranny warranty jobs, hence the CDV

i wish they had just strengthened the crappy parts. i mean really, all of 140 ftlbs of tq is causing this problem.

i removed mine. car feels better on quick shifts. as long as you dont rape the car on launches and super fast money shifts, you should be ok.

I don't want to hijack your topic _sonic, but this is could be CDV related

Sometimes, when I wanted to do a hard launch, the RPM would drop rapidly to 200-500 RPM when I engaged the clutch. It take a couple of seconds for it to catch up. Is this because of the CDV?

^^^ No, that's because you're not giving it enough gas.

I'm pretty sure 5k RPM for a hard launch is more than enough power.
