Default CEL is on!

Was driving down the road and my CEL came on. I tried everything I could think of to make it go off. Car isn't acting weird the light is just on. Any other tricks to make it go off, or I am going to have to take it to the dealer?

DO NOT TRY TO RESET THE ECU BEFORE YOU SCAN IT!!!!!!

you have to get it scanned and find out why it came on. if you reset it before you do this, you may never know what the car was trying to tell you. good luck

the CEL comes on for a reason. You do not want to 'make it go off.' You want to get the code pulled so you can find out whats wrong! Auto parts store like autozone should do it for free, then you can post it here or look in the FAQ, I believe there is a master CEL code list.

Step #1: Calm down

Step #2: Go to Autozone to get the code checked.

Step #3: Come back here and check this thread:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=378792

Step #4: If you can figure out what to fix do so and go to step #7. If not, see step #5.

Step #5: Come back into this section with the info you have found and ask us to help you solve your problem.

Step #6: Fix the car.

Step #7: Enjoy the drive.

Absolutely concur with the advice here. Don't just reset ..understand why in set. I Moderated the Under the Hood Column for several years here and can't ell you how refreshing it is to have the community at large say PULL THE CODE. By the way any major store (aka Autozone, PEP Boys, etc.) will pull the code for free in hopes that you will come back to them for the parts. 1) Pull the code 2) Post here title thread "DTCxxx" where xxx is the code you now know. 3) Many here have Manuals and can offer advice. 4) Go to your local dealer for parts or repair or save money and go to Majestic Honda.com

Utah

P.S. Not sure if I can post the MH info so I will probably be taken away..... Or my successor will delete my post. Sorry just can't keep up with the rules anymore

OK guys I went to autozone and the code is 1456. My mods are AEM cold air intake and HKS exhaust.

Thanks,
Corey

I think this is my code. If so, what does it mean? Fuel cap not tight enough, or something more serious. Thanks again for all the help guys. This forum is wonderful.
