Unhappy CEL code P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire, but then...

Got the CEL while driving back from the doctor, stopped by Autozone, had them pull the code. Cylinder 2. Okay, I thought, maybe spark plugs since the car is pushing 170k (this is the first problem I've had out of it, mind you ), but they were replaced at 151k.

So, I bought the OEM NGK's, and went on my way home. Got home.. I noticed when I was about a mile and a half from my house, the CEL was off. I got home, came inside to eat some food, went back out and went for a drive to see if it came back on, and it didn't.

So I'm curious, should I ignore it for now and replace the spark plugs when it actually needs it, or go ahead and replace them?

I read the Misfire FAQ thread and thought perhaps it could be bad gas because I did get gas a janky station, but it was premium, so idk.

Any thoughts?

Also, the car is completely stock minus the suspension.

Thanks
-Josh

i would doubt it to be the plugs. gas could cause the problem. but i have seen worse. when was the last time you had your valves adjusted? another member had a similar issue and it was that the timing chain jumped a tooth and a valve that eventually broke and he had to replace his engine. might be worth taking to reputable mechanic or dealer to have looked at. autozone guys are not trained to diagnose the kind of things. so good luck and be carefull it could be expensive if ignored. here is a link to his thread....

with that much mileage i would deff adjust the valves...i've seen misfire codes on high mileage vehicles too many times due to sunk valves.

Turns out it was a coil pack. Buddy of mine who has 2 s2k's had a few laying around, I threw it in cylinder 2, runs perfectly now. No rough idle anymore.
