Default CEL P1456

Per the sticky up top I went to Auto Zone to get the code for my CEL. I got back P1456 and the sticky says its this: P1456 EVAP Emission Control System Leak Detected (Fuel Tank System).

I have no performance mods done to the car and I just hit 30500 miles on the odometer.

Since I read the code I also cleared it. This took the CEL away and it has not returned since.

Should I be concerned about any of this?

Thanks guys!

Jim

Fuel cap can cause this. Make sure it's on 3 clicks and you should be fine.

I wish every member who posted about a CEL was as thorough and self-serving as you.

And yeah, if you didn't screw the gas cap on tight enough, you can get this code.

just one other thing about the gas cap...on my 2003, i have to go past the point where it first starts clicking. like, it'll get semi-tight (and start clicking), then loose, then tight again for good. i found this out when i got the same code last year.

This site is great. I got the CEL driving to work (at speed)................ was in the back of my mind all day until I got home and checked it. P1456 - Fuel tank temp sensor ckt......... Cleared it and monitored/logged data for one driving cycle - nothing showing up yet.

First thing I do is a quick search on P1456 and see all the comments here about fuel cap not tightened. I'm thinkin' 'I *always* make sure I hear at least 3 clicks from that thing', plus I already went through a quarter tank, so why wouldn't it have shown up sooner?

Walked back into the garage and son of a b*tch if that cap was not tightened properly.

You guys probably saved me hours on the Web researching P1456. Worth my membership fee in and by itself.

THANKS!

-Mark

WOW....I just picked up my S a few days ago. I was driving downtown a few mins ago and my CEL light came on. I got that oh my gosh sick feeling in my stomach. Went to Autozone they checked it and its the P1456. My gas cap clicked the last time I filled up, but felt like it was kinda cross threaded or something. Just took it off and put it back on. How do you clear the CEL?
