Default CEL P1457 ANYBODY?

CEL light. Autozone code: P1457.
Ticket says "Unable to pull vacuum in tank."
Idling behavior falls about 1-2 hundred rpm's and then shoots back up steady and solid after a rev.

Anybody heard of this? I've talked with several owners who think it might be a cracked hose? One guy said it could possibly be the cat? The car is driving fine. WTH is going on!!!!

Search.

I just did a search for "P1457" in UTH, and lots of threads came up that will likely answer all your questions.

Edit: The code for gas cap issues is P1456. I just had that last week.

It's not the cat.

It's not the gas cap.

It's a leak on the canister side of the evap system. Could be any of the hoses or solonoids in the system.

Last P1457 I did...pulled the evap canister and all hoses, checked for cracked hoses, stuck solonoids. Powered them up, all ok.

Checked the valve up by the engine, powered it up, flowed ok.

CEL was on for months, after I disturbed everything the CEL never came back.

I guess disturbing it all sealed an air leak. Chick was happy.

That DTC has to do with the EVAP system. There is a leak some where. could be a hose. could be a valve. I wouldent think there is not a huge rush to get it fixed if your low on cash and cant so it youself. Just make sure to get it fixed before you get it smoged or they will fail ya. At least they will here in california.

Good Luck

hey billman,
I actually referenced a thread where you had talked about spraying two different censors with WD40. You talked about 'disturbing' the censors (similar to above) as a fix to the 1457 as well.

Im still waiting to see if the light comes back on to try it (hasn't lit since being reset several days ago).

Yeah, no smogs in Fl...yet.
