Default CEL Question

Installed the Berk Technologies test pipe and had no cel tripped for about the first 60 miles. When I installed the pipe I didnt reset the ecu by pulling the positive battery cable. Just now did that and the light is now off. My question is do you guys think this will last, or will it just come back on? FYI - The Berk pipe does have the mechanical cel fix, i.e. a built in extension that moves the o2 sensor away from the pipe that is supposd to allow the sensor to read normal emissions. Any thougthts are much appreciated

Untill you pull the code, you don't know if it even related to the test pipe. See if it recodes, Don't clear it.

Get the code pulled them report back here.

Well the car has only 4000 miles on it and the light came on only 60 miles after the pipe was installed. Gotta be the pipe. Other guys who had this problem pulled a PO420 code.

HAHA! SMALL WORLD

I was the first person to post that my check engine light came on with the Berk TP, but everyone thought it had to do with my FI mods. Anyhow, I looked this morning and it was gone I'm hoping the car resetted itself, but have no clue what happened. Just glad its gone.

Here's how my situation:

Installed TP
Cel came on after 100 Miles
Ran code and resetted
Came on again after 100 Miles
Left it alone for about 500 Miles or so and just this morning noticed it gone.

My suggestion is to pull the code and make sure its the cat. If so, reset and if it comes back just drive with it and it might go away on its on

That is weird. I guess I could try just driving it and see what happens. Shouldnt hurt anything. My buddy wants to install an electronic 02 simulator. Anyone have an opinion on those? BTW - Thanks, guys, for your input.

i had cel on at 4000 miles too... except i had no test pipe at that time. i suggest that you put back the cat and take it for warranty repair.

Untill you get the code, you are all guessing what the problem is.

If it's a P0420, your test pipe is the cause.
