Hi guys,

Getting garage next door to my work to change my clutch tomorow.

It's flywheel and cluthc being changed.

Anything i need to warn them about?

e.g. my friend told me that 95% of people changing clutch for first time on S2K break the knock sensor underneath the inlet manifold? shall i warn the garage of this?

Also i've purchased new bolts from Honda for the propshaft connecting to gearbox...

My friend was going to do it but hes busy for 2 weeks and the garage next door are very good... and gave me a good price as i've helped put a lot of business their way before.

You may also want to warn them about the starter bolt. Besides that I don't remember anything being too tricky.

 

There's a few parts you need to be sure to grease. Maybe something to do with the thrust washer or throwout bearing if I'm remembering correctly?

 

Don't decapitate the knock sensor while reaching for the top starter bolt.

 

Disconnect the steering coupler when you drop the subframe, make sure you mark it someway so you can put it back exactly where you disconnected it. Use vice grips + allen key to remove driveshaft bolts. The vice grip keeps them from mushrooming when you twist the allen key. Replace the guide sleeve, check the rear main seal, replace if leaking with oem stuff. Mainly just put oem clutch stuff in there if you want it to last. Grease the inner part of the release bearing, the release guide sleeve the fork tips and where the fork meets the slave piston. You can use a transmission bolt to hold the ring gear in place, or you can put a breaker bar on the crank pulley. Make sure the subframe is aligned properly when they put it back together, there's holes that have to line up. Tighten subframe bolts in step.

 

Buy a new release bearing guide. Never seen another $30 part cause so much heartache.

 

If its the exedy clutch kit, throw away the bearing it comes with and replace it with Honda OEM.

Second, read up some articles on clutch buzz and how not to get it from a clutch install...I didn't have clutch buzz untill my first replacement clutch....lesson learned.

 

If it's the Exedy kit, throw the entire thing away and replace with Honda OEM.

 

Considering my exedy kit just went in a year, I'll second that motion!
