from what i remember, you just had to lower the rear main bolts for the motor to tilt down, its not hard at all. i think thats what had to be done to tilt the tranny out

hopefully someone that has done it recently will chime in. i did this 3 years ago

that long extensions is mostly used on FWD cars and you can use it from the under fender...I don't think it will work on this case since the bolt is facing the back (firewall).. *EDIT well it can be used but when the engine has been lowered ...

You have to lower the sub frame (engine) about 3 inches. It is just the way it is and the way not to damage things. Sure, you might be able to pull the transmission without lowering the engine but, I bet you will not line it back up You will need that big a$$ extension you have for the starter bolts

Sorry, the S2000 transmission can NOT be removed without lowering the engine as Puddy states. And you will not be able to reach the upper tranny bolts because of the firewall without lowering either. I've done a dozen of these and there doesn't seem to be an easier way. The S is just too compactly constructed.

I've done over 25 at this point. Trying to do it with out dropping the subframe is a stupid idea.

You can also remove the motor mounts and lower the engine, HOWEVER...it is more work than dropping the subframe.

The subframe is easy to lower, and has special bolts on the corners to hold it just right.
