Changing clutch without dropping engine
Anyone kno the shortcut?? I looked in the manual and its saying that you gotta drop a few things and let the engine drop a few inches to get to the top bolts. Anybody kno any tricks?? Thanks.
from what i remember, you just had to lower the rear main bolts for the motor to tilt down, its not hard at all. i think thats what had to be done to tilt the tranny out
hopefully someone that has done it recently will chime in. i did this 3 years ago

Ooooh....hm...well, a well known shop said their mechanic can do it without droppin the motor. Dont kno if they want their name mentioned. But yeah, maybe someone who knows the trick will chime in.
You have to lower the sub frame (engine) about 3 inches. It is just the way it is and the way not to damage things. Sure, you might be able to pull the transmission without lowering the engine but, I bet you will not line it back up
You will need that big a$$ extension you have for the starter bolts

Sorry, the S2000 transmission can NOT be removed without lowering the engine as Puddy states. And you will not be able to reach the upper tranny bolts because of the firewall without lowering either. I've done a dozen of these and there doesn't seem to be an easier way. The S is just too compactly constructed.
I've done over 25 at this point. Trying to do it with out dropping the subframe is a stupid idea.
You can also remove the motor mounts and lower the engine, HOWEVER...it is more work than dropping the subframe.
The subframe is easy to lower, and has special bolts on the corners to hold it just right.
