Thumbs down Check Engine!

Hey guys I just purchased my 2002 s2000 last week monday(28,600 miles)(car is honda certified as well). The only mods I've done so far are short ram intake, and strut bar which I installed over the weekend. The car has been driving great no problems at all. Well anyways this morning I started my car up and the check engine light came on, I haven't tried to figure it out so much, but I did get a chance to look under the hood before I got to work and everything looked normal and car drove perfectly fine. If anyone has any idea of what the problem is please let me know asap. I will try to figure it out after I get off work. All help is appreciated.

You'd have to get the code to find out exactly what the problem is, but if you recently filled up and/or smell fuel, then there's a good chance it could be a loose gas cap.

ok cool, I will go to autozone after work to find out the code. On lunch break I will check for loose gas cap or anything else that is loose.

If it is indeed a loose gas cap, then I've found that it helps to tighten the cap by grabbing it around the perimeter, rather than using that tab in the middle. Doing so gives a more snug fit.

Also, after tightening the cap, it takes 3-6 driving cycles for the CEL to turn off. This is all assuming that the culprit is actually a loose gas cap, of course.
