Default Check Engine Light ON

Hey guys....my car is throwing code 4/11. My friend said this really isnt a big deal and that I could leave it for now if I wanted to. But, he didnt know where to pinpoint the problem. Do you guys have any guesses where the problem could be and is this code dangerous or harmful to the engine? Is there a way to turn the engine light off? I'm sick of looking at it. thanks guys!!

Your friend obviously doesn't care much for emissions and the environment nor does he care whether or not you can see if your car exhibits ANOTHER CEL as the first one will mask all future ones.
411 is for the secondary air injection system. Have you installed a CAI lately? Have you had the car to the dealer lately where they may have messed with the engine bay hoses or have you messed with the engine bay vacuum hoses?
Go here and trace all the lines and check valve direction for tightness, correct routing and proper direction. Then reset the ECU.

I just recently bought the car. The previous owner just installed a FIPK K&N intake and said the light came on after. I tried checking all the hoses and wiring and I cant figure it out.

Check them AGAIN, and AGAIN, if you have to. Follow the links in my previous post. I have seen many owner who swear up and down that everything is connected up right only to discover that a line was STILL crossed or the check valve was on backwards.
ps. There are no wiring changes involved with a CAI installation. (Unless he unplugged something he should not have. )

I rememember why my car was fixed, the check engine light would come on. Nothing was wrong with the injection itself, it was just a wiring problem. I'll try to find the detailed report somewhere in my car later.
