Default Check Engine Light - ON

I recently tried to replace my air filter with the K&N air filter except the check engine light came on after messing with it. Is this normal?

I put the stock filter back in to see if the light will go away. Any thoughts?

My veh is '07 S2K.

Did you install the K&N FIPK system or just the filter? If you installed the FIPK, you probably have your vacuum lines hooked up wrong.

The only thing that I installed was the filter, nothing else. That is what puzzles me since I didn't touch anything else but the filter.

Take your S to AutoZone/Discount Auto/Pep Boys and get the CEL code read. (It should be free to check at those places).

Post the code.

That'll help us identify what the problem is.

Great! Thanks so much!

PS - If the check engine light clears all of a sudden is that good to go?

I'd say no. Anytime you get a CEL, you need to find out what the problem is.

An 06/07 isn't going to have that problem, that whole vacuum line mess isn't there.. not that it matters in this case anyways since it was just the filter though.

So did the light go out?

If so, did you happen to fill the gas tank up at about the same time?

Personally, if the code is gone I wouldn't worry about it, until it comes back, but that's just me.

Check the gas cap and tighten it.

The light did go out... and I did not full the gas tank up at the same time. I triple checked my gas cap thinking I may have not tightened it since the last time I put in gas, but that wasn't it.
