check engine light (cel) after battery disconnect
Ok i changed some lights in my dashboard and gauge cluster, according to this thread :
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...&#entry13540681
It said that i should disconnect the battery before i start. So i did. I replaced the broken lights en installed the dash and steering colum again, and i connected the battery.
The lights work again, but now when i start the engine, i get a check engine light cel, and the car runs terrible on idle.
Before i disconnected the battery, the car was running fine, but now its running like crap. Im not gonna drive the car like this, so before i transport it to the dealer, does anyone got a clue what the problem might be ?

I recently had my original ECU start throwing a code on me (https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=743110) when it was cold. The code was an internal ECU malfunction so I replaced it with another ECU. The troubleshooting process included resetting the ECU and ends with the comment to ask if the battery had ever gone dead (page 11-80 in the PDF '00-'03 manual). Try resetting the ECU (pull the backup fuse inside the cabin) and see if that clears the problem. My issue was only when <40 degrees F - hopefully yours has nothing to do with that.
It may be worthwhile getting a cheap OBDII scanner to pull the code and reset the ECU...

Since this just happened and only after disconnecting the battery, I'd simply try resetting the ECU and see if anything pops up again. If not, yer golden...
Is it possible that you disconnected the battery too soon after your last drive? As I recall you need to wait a certain number of minutes to allow the ECU to fully reset and adjust. Either way, next time before disconnecting the battery, wait a half hour or so or whatever is recommended in the manual. If this does not apply to your situation, please disregard.
How did you pull the codes?
Did you use the SCS-shortcut and counted the pulses of the CEL light?
Or did the dealer pull the code with a OBDII?
In case of the first, code 72, 73 and 74 are misfire codes, according to my service manual.
72 is cyl 2, ect..
You could go to a (Honda) dealer and ask them to pull the code with a OBDII reader.
That may cost money (I donno).
First I would do what was allready suggested: reset the ECU and try again.

edit: it is SCS and not SRS.....

i did it by counting the light. Seems like misfiring. I replaced the spark plugs and resetted the ECU and the error is gone. Very weird.
I disconnected the battery 5 mins after driving btw, didnt know that i should have wait half an hour. Will remember that for next time.

The whole point of what I initially posted is that it's a spurious code caused by the battery disconnect. Resetting the ECU should clear it with no residual effects, Had a somewhat similar problem on my wife's '06 TSX recently - threw a code in the back woods of VA. The dealer read it as a VTEC code (don't recall the specific code) and the manual just said to reset the ECU. Hasn't happened again...

Its page 11-A-34 of my (Dutch) service manual.
That chapter (11?) has 2 subs, the F20C2 (11-A-1) and F20C1 (11-B-1).
Maybe the US version doesn't have the F20C2 info.
They show the P-code you get with an OBDII and the code you get when counting the blinks of the CEL light after you short some pins to ground.
(I'm not being specific here on purpose - the procedure is in the FAQ and Modifry's explaines it on his website too)
Funny thing is I can't find the "counting CEL light" procedure in the manual.

With OEM I hope.
NGK-R-PFR7G-11S
Don't throw away the old ones, if they have less than 100.000km on them they should be ok.
The CEL was most likely just a hick-up.
What page did you find these codes? I checked both the PDF manual as well as my '01 printed manual and don't see these...
