Default Check Engine Light Is On!!!!! How Long?

i was washing my car a day ago, when i was done i opened my hood and was using some compressed air on the engine to blow off dirt and so forth. i have a AEM CAI and i accidently blew of the vacum line on the air sensor. i didn't realise this until i started the car and the check engine light came on. well i put the line back on no problem. i was just wondering how long will it tke the light to go out? i know if it comes on with the gas cap it takes about three trips. but what i was wondering is how long do the trips have to be? 5miles 10 miles so on? thanks for the help.

It may take several "trips" before the light goes out. If you are sure of the reason why the light came on, you can manually reset it. Go to the fuse panel under the dash by your knee. Go to the second row of fuses and pull the fuse that's in the 3rd slot from the top. This is the ECU back-up fuse. Make sure the car is OFF. Pull the fuse for about 30 seconds and put it back. Now start the car and the light should be off. If it wasn't the vacuum line, then the light will come back on pretty soon and you'll need to take it in to find out what's really wrong.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm just trying to humbly follow in the footsteps of the likes of Ultimate Lurker, Utah S2K, Modifry, MacGyver, and others whom you will find most valuable to this community.

The check engine light will stay on forever....slowly it will burn and destroy your retina's. Then it will cause you to have cold sweat nightmares with honda tech's running after you with a pgm tester shouting that your warrenty will be voided. Your ecu will slowly take away horse power...two to three hp a day. all your fuses will burn out on a daily basis. Honda of america will take you to court and charge you with lifting up the hood with out there permission. A lien will be out on your car and it will be towed away in the middle of the night. The planter peanut company will buy your car at auction...Mr planter the peanut will drivre it in planter honey roasted peanut commercials and you will be reminded of your car on a nightly basis as you watch television and see an oversized peanut with a top hat burn out your clutch with 9000 rpm clutch drops. Roasting peanuts in a new way........hey i could happen....it happened to my friends second cousin in Jersey. But it was Kelloggs Tony the tiger that bought his car. Tony things the car is GRRRRREEEATTTTT...but that another story.
