Default Checking diff

So i've been hearing this noise for a while now, and today i put the s on jackstands to check the diff. I spun one wheel at a time to see if the opposite wheel spins with it, and nothing. I spin one wheel and the other does nothing. same thing on both sides they both spin by themselves. I have a guy i can buy a diff from, should i get it and replace my diff???

edit** i just realized that i didnt have it in gear when i was rotating the wheels.. does that make a difference?

if what i hear is your diff, it sounds terrible.

you could try changing the fluid..

or just put a known good one in.

Since you have mods and probly drive "spirited" you should upgrade your diff. Get a built diff with the gears of your choice

do you need a new differential? well if you have a stock 4.10, sure you do! bump up to a higher ratio...
