Default Cleared Out Headlights Vs. JDM Headlights.

Can someone tell me the difference between the two? I am thinking of just clearing mine out to save myself $500+. Any dissadvantages? Also if someone could post pics of both of them to compare the two.

Clearing yours out removing the amber lens and having nothing there. As far as I know, the JDM's have a translucent lens instead of the amber BUT, they will not quite work for a N. American car. Have you noticed your lights' pattern at night? You see the "notch"? The left one is slightly offset so that oncoming traffic do not get blinded. The JDM lights, because in Japan they drive on the "other" side of the road, their notch is reversed (mirror image).

If you are comparing to the latest JDM housing, you will be delighted to find that it has chrome accent around prodtruding low beam housing.
And also with proper diffuser plastic piece in place, it looks more polished and refined.
If you want to do it right and want a unique look than you have to fork over some money to purchase JDM housing(make sure it is the latest one with chrome accent).
Question is how badly do you want the cleared look, professionally or amateurish?

It is a bit of work to clear light housing yourself but in the end it looks quite good, not JDM good but good enough to be satisfied. Plus you will have quite a bit of money that you can lay away for the performance mods.

i have a question...sorry if this has been answered in a previous thread but...when you buy jdm headlights...do you only get the housing? or are HID components included? i only ask because i was searching ebay and i saw 2 auctions for jdm headlights...one of the auctions says "JDM Honda S2000 headlight housings (No HID components)." i am interested in getting a set of jdm headlights and i was wondering if the package on ebay is the full deal. thanks in advance for any help.

I cleared my corners this last weekend. I think these look great. I am the fourth person in the south florida club to make this mod. I couldn't be happier.
