Click Sound from Rear in Reverse
Hi guys,
Every now and then, when I move from reverse to forward or forward to reverse, there would be a minor click sound. Sometimes there may be one click followed by another click very fast. But then if I pause/stop and resume reversing, the clicks do not reappear.
That sound also can be recreated if drive normally at around 2,000+ rpm and then suddenly let go off of the gas. This sudden stop in acceleration will jolt the car slightly and can create that sound.
I thought this was axle pop that was described in TSB Number 011217, and so I took it to the dealers to see. However, the inspector just said that it was my brake pads rubbing against my aftermarket rotors that was causing the sound. He said that it was normal.
I just wanted to get your opinions on it. Was the Honda guy correct?

My brakes do that, i thought it was my axle nuts, but i had them retorqued to the 200-something lbs the tsb stated. It was still making the noise the same day.
Try moving slowly in reverse and then into 1st without touch the brakes, listen to hear if theres any noise. I only get it when i tap the brakes.

That's why I was a bit confused, since I thought I had that problem.

There are 10s of threads about various drivetrain clicks, but I’ll try this one. Did OP ever figure this out? Anyone with a similar sound know what’s making it? I know sound travels, and the car is moving, etc. But it really doesn’t come from the area of the rear bearings.
