I'm not sure what caused this, but my left side of the cluster is fading. Compare the temp gauge with the gas gauge, you can see that they are not in balance. This is more evidence with the RPM meter at low range.
Any suggestions? Also, can the AP2 cluster be directly swap into AP1? Thanks in advance.

 

Looks like one of the illumination bulbs has blown.

As far as the AP2 dash...I've heard that the pin-outs for the plugs are different.

 

I have the exact same problem on my AP2 dash. Temp gauge is fading just like your picture.

Car is a 2005 with 62k miles. Have no idea of how to fix it.

 

I have the same problem intermittently - strangely - on Friday night a gave the side of the dash a light smack - and everything came back on .....

 

A light smack did not work for me. LOL
I guess I'll take the dash off to check the illumination bulbs behind the cluster. It's such a hassle for such a small problem.
And of course an AP2 cluster wouldn't swap directly. They have different Rev limit.

 

Apparently in SA - its still 9000... or so I've been told

EDIT: But our cars our left hand drive - so probably wouldn't work.
