Default Clutch advice

So long story short I just had my fluid drained and replaced and I was told by a mechanic that a spring on the clutch has probably gone bad. I know the only real way to know would be to drop the tran and disassemble the clutch but that'll cost me bunnies. When ever I put the clutch pedal down it sounds like something internal is being spun around. It still engages without a problem and goes into all gears. He said I could still drive it around for now but to really baby it. I did a little research about springs popping out, so here's my question. What exactly should I replace? Should I replace just the clutch and pressure plate only? I'm not too mechanically inclined.

Also, I've only had the new oem clutch for maybe 2 years and haven't been too aggressive with it. I really only launched it maybe 2 or 3 times in the 2 years. I did notice though that my fluid was really low at one point (caused an air bubble) and filthy. How could this all happen?

Which fluid did you replace...trans or clutch fluid?

I'll defer to Billman but if all you're hearing is a noise I'd wait for other symptoms before tearing it down again. It's unlikely you'll damage anything other than clutch system parts which you'll want to replace anyway.

Have you checked for master cylinder leaks? Fluid in the floor board?

I did, that was actually my initial concern. I figured if my fluid had gotten that low, then maybe there was a leak. I checked the cmc but couldn't find any noticable leaks. I also feel some out of the ordinary vibrations coming from the pedal syncing with the noises I hear as well. Idk if driving a couple trips to work with an air bubble in the lines or cmc would cause the clutch to fail.

@billman
I was actually just told it could be the throw out bearing. Is it that when the clutch is replaced, a lot of times the throttle bearing isn't included unless requested? Sound like the culprate?

If your clutch was going you'd feel it slipping. If there are some odd noises coming from the clutch it could very well be your throw out bearing. How many miles are on the car? Are you the first owner? Are you actually loosing fluid or did you just get the clutch line flushed cause the fluid was dirty?

I'm thinking it's the throw out bearing. Idk if they replaced it when I had my clutch replaced a coulple years back. If it wasn't, then it has about 110xxx miles on it.
I'm the second owner.
I flushed the fluid becuase it was filthy and I suspected it had an air buble in it (a lot of play in clutch pedal. I'd say I gradually lost fluid over months.

OK So check the carpet up behind the pedals, as well as the insulation against the firewall. If it's soaked with fluid then you'll know it's your master cylinder. How often are you having to add fluid? Replacing the TOB is generally a common practice when servicing the clutch. You should contact the technician that worked on it last.

Well I'm really leaning on it being the TO bearing, but I'm sure the cmc could use a replacing as well. My question now is if it is the TO bearing, how long do you think I could drive it w/o causing too much damage to the pressure plate or other internals? It's pretty hot out here in Palm Springs so idk if it is possible for it to actually seize and possibly affect the tranny.
Still have to drive it to work to make another paycheck. I'm expecting to pay aroun 500 to 700.
