Clutch disengagement issues
I thought I would post to see if anyone may have some thoughts or ideas about whats going on with my car.
Its a 2001 with just about 120K on it
I went to LA for five days and left it in the garage. It drove fine the day I left but when I got back the clutch would not disengage with the pedal depressed. The transmission fluid is full and visually looks fine. The clutch fluid is fairly dirty and at the correct level. At the slave cylinder there was a sign of fluid leaking out of the exterior boot. I pulled it back and the fluid was coming from the inside of the inner boot (covering the actual wire and ball). I got under it and bleed the system and it did not appear to have any air, yet still it would not disengage. It does have some travel when watching it, but then again I dont know how much it should be moving.
No work has been done to the transmission or clutch that I know of. Shifts through all gears when car is off. When car is running at idle, with clutch pedal depressed, when shifting into any gear the car will stumble but not die. It will also make the normal clunking noise from the rear end as if the clutch were being enganged.
I know I am not the best at descriptions but I would appreciate it if you guys could give some input and or thoughts on the issue.
P.S. I know fluid should not be leaking from inside the inner boot, so I did go ahead and order a new slave cylinder from hardtopguy and it should be here on friday.
Thank you.

You may want to bleed the new slave off the transmission, with the bleeder valve pointed upwards and the piston pushed all the way in and a full reservoir with fresh fluid.
A gravity bleed works very well (it did for me)
Check the level in the reservoir afterwards.
Succes!
Ok now im at a stand still ..... I replaced the slave cylinder and got honda fluid bleed into it. Yet still no fix. The clutch still doesnt fully disengage. I am leaning toward a warped pressure plate. My reasoning for that would be because of the way it sounds when i let the clutch out in neutral. My bearings in my transmission make a loud enough whine that I can tell when the transmission is spinning. It will make a whirling noise when i let the clutch out in neutral. When the clutch pedal is then pressed it still whirls, but the whirling comes in small blurps (it doesnt sound constant).
I have replaced a clutch in an S2000 before at my school, but the problem is now i only have a garage at my parents house (not in school, winter break).
A local dealership has quoted 1100 dollars for parts and labor but I am thinking I want to get performance parts and suck up the labor myself.
My main questions would be.
Did i over look anything that could be within the hydraulic system that could be the problem.?
What would/have you do in the situation?
Thoughts?
Thanks

PP's don't warp overnight, your car was fine a week ago right?
How did you bleed that new slave?
Maybe.. remove the slave and remove that outer boot, then put the slave back on to see if the stroke of the slave is in a constant movement when the clutch pedal is pressed. (you'll need someone to help you)
I guess that if your helper pushes the clutch pedal with a constant speed the slave piston (and push rod) should move out at a constant speed as well.
As soon as the PP starts to create resistance and the slave piston starts to "stumble forward" I would say there is still air in the system.
Or..
Your clutch disk doesn't slide enough on the splines, maybe a little surface rust from standing still, and that may cause a slight drag.
How does the car drive & behave when warmed up?

Lemme give you a tip to try....
Under normal bleeding, it is almost impossible to get all the air out of the slave.
Go under the car, reach through the slave boot with a screwdriver, and pump the fork/slave piston all the way into the slave about 4 times. It will purge the air and may solve the problem.
BTW don't open the bleeder, the air will go up the line to the top of the master...

I will get under it again and try both the screw driver tip and removing the outer boot to watch the movement.
Warmed up the car actually feels just about the same. Its obvious the clutch is still is engaged when it shouldnt be.
Thanks for the advice, hopefully by this evening i will have some good news to post.

Well I got under it again and bleed a whole can of honda fluid through. I did the screwdriver trick twice with no luck. I also took the outer boot off and watched it slowly at it looked smooth and good.
I will be taking the transmission out to check it all out and it will be getting put back together with a new clutch kit (late christmas early birthday present)
I am curious to find what the issue was.
Is there anyone who has had the same type of issue?
