Default Clutch - Do I need a GUIDE, RELEASE BEARING

Would I need the Guide for the Bearing? It's a 30 dollar part and I'm told it shows wear, but do I really need it?

GUIDE, RELEASE BEARING - 21103-PCY-003

Thank you!

I have never replaced one... just clean and grease. Replace if bent or badly gouged.

I didn't replace mine. Some of the early S2000's didn't seem to have enough lube on the clutch systems so it is possible to have some wear on the guide.

If it just has some shiny spots that you can't feel with your finger I'd say keep it, just put some proper lube on it. If you have damage as listed above by cdelena or stuff that you can feel with your finger (scoring) then replace it.

Upon assembly fill the throwout bearing inner recess so it is flush with Honda Urea Hi-temp grease and it will be lubed for the life of the part.

I bought one to replace mine before I got the trans down, and I was really glad I did. My old one was extremely scored from the TO bearing running dry on it.

What year and how many miles?

I have a 02 with like 60k on it, I'm only changing the clutch since I've upped my hp/tq. I'm thinking it should be good.

About 15% of the clutches I do need the guide.

Inspect it, it should be smooth. Any wear marks will catch the bearing and make for a crappy clutch feel.

Mine was a MY2000, 120k miles, factory original clutch.

If it shows any wear then absolutely replace it.

Car today needed one. If the TO bearing is properly greased you will never need one.
