clutch and grinding question
what could the problem be if it goes into all gears very well and without grinding, but when you let the clutch out to go, the car grinds horribly and smells like burning clutch? there was some noise around the slave cylinder, but its hard to tell if its coming driectly from it. what do you guys think?
Burning clutch smell is not good
Your clutch could be worn down to the rivets.
They touch the flywheel and pressure plate and could make that grinding noise.
Does the car drive at all?
(not that I would recommend driving it at all)
Time for a flatbed to a dealer to get a tech look / listen IMO.
Let us know what you find.
Succes.

yeah, the car drives, i drove it home in 1st gear under 15 mph. It grabs fine once let all the way out, but grinds horribly before its engadged. The clutch was grabbing perfect before all this, and i have maitenence records from the previous owner showing a new clutch installed less than 2 months ago, so i dont think the clutch could ever be worn down that fast. my civic had 220k miles, and the original clutch didnt go out till 180k. this is an odd problem
