Default Clutch Install Questions..

Hey, I'm pulling out my trans now to swap out the clutch and I have a few questions that the DIY didn't answer. Is it necessary to mess around with the power steering and what exactly do I have to remove from it? Also, instead of dropping the subframe, can I just pull the 4 bolts on each of the motor mounts and the lower tie bar because the DIY said to drop the subframe, and I don't understand why I have to do these things. Also, where is the engine block ground wire? Any help is appeciated. Thanks.

I don't think you have to do anything to the power steering. You just have to disconnect the steering column at the U-joint.

If you are doing this without the Helms manual to reference, good luck.

The book says to unplug the two EPS connectors. however, all you need to disconnect is the one white clip that holds that harness to the front frame member. It will allow the wire harness to move down with the subframe.

I have over 100 tricks to pulling the s2k trans.

Number one is:

1. follow the manual, or you will break things. like internally as in wiring harnesses.

Thanks Bill . I just got done a few hours ago with the clutch install. Now I just hope that I removed all of the harnesses , but I am pretty sure that I did before I lowered the subframe and dropped the tranny. BTW, this clutch job was a total PITA, you should charge 5x what you do to do it.

I think it's a very extensive job with a big time commitment for a do it yourselfer. I'm almost dreading it when my time comes.

Oh, now go have that alignment checked since you may have disturbed it when the cradle went down and up.
