Can anyone advise me on this?

I have an 01 with 97,000 miles. Today I noticed that I had to press the clutch pedal almost to the floor to engage the clutch. Shifts are harder, I almost couldn't engage reverse earlier today.

Do I need a new clutch or is there a way to adjust it? Could I have lost fluid?

And finally where do you guys go to have work done on your S2000? Can you recommend a good reasonably priced shop?

yes you should. i change mine every year. if you've never changed yours, bleed the clutch and change it and pray that it fixes your problem. if it doesnt, it is likely that the dirty fluid damaged your clutch master cylinder, if it isnt a whole other problem itself.

 

might just need a new clutch..

 

I am having a similar problem with mine. It may just be that the slave cylender has corosion on the inside due to not changing the fluid. I'm checking mine out tomorrow since i finally got a day off from work.

 

On closer inspection I see I have a fluid leaking into the driver side footwell, the master cylinder isn't full. I topped it up and the gearchange improved, so I guess i have a leak in the clutch hydraulic line somewhere.

 

if fluid is leaking into the driver's side footwell, your master cylinder is bad. check to see if the piston thing attached to the back of the clutch pedal is leaking. mine leaked on the last day of warranty for me and i could visibly see fluid on it. you should look into getting it replaced, either with a good used one, or a new one.

Thanks for the help, I'm getting this fixed Monday. Still looking for a good shop where the mechanics know our cars.

 

The master is not bad. ALL s2ks will leak fluid into the footwell from dirty clutch fluid.

Just suck it dry, wipe it clean with paper towels, and refill it.

Change it again in 3000 miles, the leak will stop.
