Hey guys,

I was driving the car spiritedly and all of a sudden it wouldn't shift into 2nd or any other gear. Even if I shift it to Neutral, it would still be stuck in 1st gear. So basically I can't let the clutch out at any time because it would engaged 1st gear, even in neutral.

With a little more force I can force it into 2nd but it will grind before going in.

Is this a clutch problem or a tranny problem?


I have around 55,000 miles on the stock clutch, and have replaced the fluid with SuperBlue (same as my brake fluid) for around a year or so, and there hasn't been any problems before.

If I understand you correctly, it's hard to get the shifter into any gear, and you may grind when doing so. Is it also hard to get the shifter out of gear when you engage the clutch?

Do a search on my posts and look up my clutch problems. I had very similar symptoms and also had 56k on my clutch. What happened was one of the springs on the friction disc had broken and gotten itself stuck so that the FD wouldn't comletley disengage from the flywheel. Only solution is to replace the clutch.

First I would take a look at the clutch fluid, make sure its clean. Then take a look at your slave cylinder to make sure its still actuating properly. Maybe try a bleed. But, most likely you will have to change the clutch if your symptoms are the same as mine.
