Default Clutch problems, please help

So I woke up last Friday and went to start my car. Like a champ, it fired right up, but I could not put it into gear! It was as if I wasn't pressing down the clutch.
The day before I drive it home from college just fine, no noise or grinding or anything strange.

I did my research and read (on s2ki) that it could be the master clutch cylinder. I checked in the floor board, and there was a drop hanging from the cylinder! Dad insisted that I get a mechanic look at it before I bought the part, the mechanic (a backyard mechanic) said he's not sure what's wrong with it but said "the transmissions going to have come out of that little car" to find out what's wrong with it.

What do you guys think?

So I did some more reading and I came across a spring in the pressure plate issue. Do my symptoms fit something like that?

I had the same issue, with 1st and reverse. Ended up I needed to change the tranny fluid, I also bled the CMC and now it shifts wonderfully.
I would run to honda get some tranny fluid, do the change. See if that fixes it, if not work your way up to find what it could be.

Why would you pull a trans to diagnose what could be just air in the system, bad fluid or a pedal in need of adjustment. On the other hand you may have a broken clutch and it would need to come out. Some further testing should be completed before pulling any parts.

Does it require pressure to push the clutch pedal or does it just drop to the floor and not come back ?? If there is pressure is it very light ?? May sound silly but for the price of 10 minutes and 2 bolts i suggest you remove and inspect your slave cylinder. When you take it off also remove the rubber boot and inspect your clutch fork. It may have popped out. I could be a million miles away from what your problem is. But its free and only takes a few minutes to know for certain. And one last thing if your cmc is low on fluid i guaranteeyou have air in the line. If so you need to remove the slave to properly bleed it anyways.

Do not let that drip bother you, as 90% of S2000s will have it. It's a result of dirty clutch fluid.

Of course check the fluid. A little low will not cause your problem, but 1/4 worth of fluid or less will.

Replace the clutch fluid in the res regularly, I guarantee you the leak will stop. It always does.

Never pull a trans until the hydraulics (master, slave, fluid, and adjustment) have been ruled out.
