clutch question: is it normal for the to release high...
One thing that I have noticed is that on my s2k, the clutch releases really high, far away from the floor. Is this common ? Can the clutch height/release be adjusted? Thanks guys!
I guess, I have a bit over 4,000 miles and I am still trying to get used to it...it seems if it would release a bit lower that the launching can be improved a lot more........dunno, imho.
According to the Helm service manual, the clutch pedal height is adjustable, but the manual does not state the possible range of adjustment. Adjustments are a bit complicated because the pedal position and interlock switches have to be adjusted also after the height is reset.
So get in your car and take a look at the pedal. Behind the pedal is a locknut and a pushrod where you set the height. In front of the pedal at the roughly the same height of the pushrod is the pedal position switch and its locknut. The third locknut associated with the starter interlock switch is hard to see - it is at the very top of the clutch pedal - push the wires and conduit out of the way and you should be able to see it. So all three of the locknuts are going to have to be loosened and reset.
Page 12-4 in the manual gives the adjustment procedure and locknut torque values. You can get a copy of the manual here.

ZO6-KILLR,
Where does your clutch start to engage? Mine starts to engage about an inch to two inches off of the floor. I haven't measured it to get an exact distance. I would say that you might want to have it adjusted. Sooner or later, if not adjusted, it will start to slip.
Good luck,
Bob

The ACT clutch/pressure plate combo changed the point of engagement to 2-3 inches from the floorboard. It took a while to get used to since I am 5"5" and had to move the seat up a notch to get the new "throw" down.
I replaced the clutch/pressure plate/toda flywheel during my TSB fix and I love the way it feels now.

I did what the manual said and was only able to soften up the initial 1-inch clutch push-in stroke. Engagement point is still the same which is about half-way up through the entire clutch stroke.
Engagement point, I hear is non-adjustable, which kinda sucks because it makes me rev too much.
