Default Clutch Replacement

So it looks as if I need a clutch replacement. Today driving from home my clutch pedal had barely any pressure on it. I could barely get the shifter in first gear. What a crappy feeling. Any tips? I have the extended warranty but I doubt this will be covered since clutches are considered wear and tear. Should I go to a dealer or someone that was recommended? Also, how much to replace the clutch through the dealer. Thanks guys.

If the pedal wasn't giving any resistance that is more likely a sign that your hydraulics have a problem. Could be air in the fluid or a problem with the master cylinder. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion it is the clutch itself unless it's slipping.

Also not really sure how that could be related.

Try to bleed the system first.. A bottle of DOT 3 is alot cheaper then parts and labor. It wouldnt hurt since you have a 02 and if its never been changed. My S is a 03 and it was filthy! good luck!

Last s2k I had here the clutch master was empty

Check the fluid. It's the small fluid resovior in driver's side rear corner of the engine compartment, next to the brake master resovior. If it's low/dark, clean it out spotless with a few pieces of paper towel. Fill it back up to the full line with regular brake fluid, try your clutch

You'd be amazed at how many s2ks don't need to be bleed completely.

Many s2k's leak clutch fluid out the back of the master and onto the interior carpet. I've learned once the fluid is clean, the leak will stop.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Billman, here are some pics of the area you were suggesting. I believe you were speaking of the are circled in yellow correct?

Then here is the level that the fluid is at

UPDATE:
So I went ahead and cleaned/filled the clutch master and it did not solve the problem. The clutch had barely any pressure. I guess Ill tow it to the dealer on monday.

correct. As suspected, it's black and empty.

If you're slick:

Reach your finger inside the slave boot, and pump the rod and fork a few times. I guarantee you'll get your clutch back. This will push the air out.

Hmmm...interesting. The same hole I just cleaned right? And the fork will help fluid pass through? Hope I can find something small enough. My finger could barely fit to clean that area out. Thanks. ill keep you updated.

No no no....don't stick anything in the res.

Just forget it. I'm talking about under the car, at the trans. The clutch fork.
