Default Clutch Slipping?

I've been searching for a similar issue, but what my issue seems to be is clutch slippage.

In any gear except first, I can depress the accelerator pedal and the rpm goes up 1k or 2k increments then drops back down to the current rpm I'm at. Which I think is the clutch slipping.

Just want to make sure if anyone is sure about this, that it is really a clutch issue. I have ext warranty but it wont cover wear items. So I wanted to make sure its not something else before I buy a clutch kit.

Thanks to any responses.

Hi,

If your revs go up and the car does not accelerate (and there is no wheelspin) then it sounds like the clutch is slipping. Also, if this is the case, the clutch pedal engagement point should be rather high up in the pedal's travel. You should also be able to smell the clucth if it's slipping. Try reversing up a steep incline and you should be able to tell / smell it. I have just been through a clutch change (and it hasn't been a happy one) - see posts / topics by searching my username.
