Default Clutch Slipping?

Okay so i have a 2000 s2000.

Today i was driving to school on the freeway, when im attempting to switch lanes, as i press on the gas the my rpms go up but my car doesn't accelerate, almost like the ttranny isnt grabbing onto the gear properly, it'll steadily accelerate but it's non-responsive when i try to do it quickly. the rpms go up but the car wont go.

I took a quick vid on my phone, but have no idea how to upload it on here.

Im assuming it has something to do with the clutch. or maybe something even simpler than that.

if you have any further questions to help me out, i'll gladly answer them. thanks in advance.

also, if it is the clutch, would i have to buy an entire clutch kit, or can i just buy the clutch plate??

I forgot to mention that my clutch showed no signs of slipping until i had to pop start my car on several occasions. I had a battery that wouldn't crank up, so I parked it on a hill and popped started it several times (4-5).

Can pop starting it cause the plate to need readjusting? or throw off the clutch plate?

thanks again

sounds like you need a new clutch. you can either get the flywheel resurfaced or just get a new one.

Has your clutch been showing signs of weakness lately? How many miles are on the car? Has it been driven hard?

you could jus get the clutch disk but it would also depend on how warped the pressure plate contact surface is...ive seen sum bad ones...also if u have no experience mechanically on a car then i wouldnt recommend it cuz it is a pain in the ass

Evasive Motorsports in La Habra does it for $300. Make sure you replace the rear main seal at the same time. Doing it yourself without any experience working on the car may lead to more problems if you don't use the right tools, break anything, overlook anything, don't reinstall things properly, etc. It is definitely worth the $300 and piece of mind to have a professional do it.
