Default Clutch suggestions

Hey guys, im fairly new to S2k's and unfortunately the S that I bought has a pretty weak clutch and im sure it needs replacing. I've looked at a few different ones, but the one that seems to fit the most into my budget+quality is the Fidanza Two point One clutch kit for $402 at Horsepowerfreaks. Has anyone tried this clutch? or does anyone have another recommendation around the $400-500 price range that might be better? Car will remain stock for about the next 6 months but I plan on turboing the s and my goals are around 350hp. Thanks!

If you are looking to replace your clutch I would go with OEM equipment. You do not need a heavy duty clutch, and even going F/I an OEM should be fine as long as your not pushing high HP and dragging the car. You can also go with an Exedy replacement kit which is the same thing.

Remember you want the clutch to fail before your diff fails. Its a lot cheaper to replace.

I have heard the ideal setup for someone with a stock s2000 is to go with all OE or even better.

ACT HDSS pressure plate, OE clutch pad, throwout bearing. Since the clutch is one of the longer jobs on our car its recommended to replace as many parts as possible while you are doing it. You may be able to keep the stock flywheel and get it resurfaced at a transmission shop.

Many websites including our sponsors offer the HDSS, and street disc package for around $550 but I still recommend getting the bearing too, actually do get the bearing lol!

Not to jack the thread also, but im getting a new clutch myself and im quite new. I bought the ACT hdss and I also bought the suggested bearings from majestic honda. Pilot, throughout and I also bought a new fork and oil seal? Do these parts seem good to replace after 80k while installing a new clutch and flywheel?

I don't like exedy replacement clutch pedal i's to soft and the throw put bearing doesn't last long at all. Hdss kit I love the feel grabs great and no throwout problems

Not really. Plus it's easier to replace the diff.

I should correct myself....if you are buying parts from S2ki members and doing your own work diffs can be cheaper. If you buy your parts through a repair shop/dealership and pay for repair clutches will still be much cheaper. Clutches are also easier to source and have repaired quickly. I personally would rather have my clutch blow out. Just my .02
