Default Coil differences?

I recently had a coil pack fail on my MY00 at 132K. From what I understand, that is not out of the ordinary. I do a lot of racing, so the coil has lived a full life as far as I'm concerned. While on the hunt for the optimum replacement, I found some information regarding what coils to use. From what I have found, the 04-05 coils are the way to go, so that is what I ordered. They also happen to be much cheaper as they are for a few other vehicles (Accord, Odyssey, etc).

What I read that draws some question is that you cannot use 06+ coils on 05 and below. The only info I can find is that the factory service manual says not to use 06+ coils on 05 and below. Does anyone have any amplifying information on why? I'm looking for some empirical data and/or technical descriptions as to why this will not work. I've already disproven that it will not work, as I had to run a friend's 06 coil in my 00 while I wait for my RRA-007 coils to show up from majestic. I have not discovered how long you can run them for though. I have run the car up to redline and have been driving it for the past three days with no issues.

The only thing we could think of is that the drive-by-wire system has some differences...(?)

I included these part numbers for future search reference.
30520-PCX-007 00-03
30520-RRA-007 04-05
30520-PZX-007 06+

Any info besides "The FSM says not to" or "Honda must have a reason" is appreciated. I would check them out, but I don't have a multimeter readily available.
