Default Cold start

hey guys. i have a 01 ap1, and i noticed during only cold starts i would get a grinding noise, kinda sounds like the starter is sticks for a bit; but the car runs fine..and only happens during cold starts, or even randomly..can it be the starter ? several other ppl has been saying it can be my timing chain tensioner ? any input would be greatly appreciated.

If its just happening on starts it's the starter. It's a common complaint.

so funny I read this. my car did this the other day. Its like the bendix of the starter is hanging up. prolly the solenoid sticking, it has'nt done it since so I wont worry till it happens again.

My bet is on this as well, and for about a $150 part and 15 min replacement. Why not replace it?
