Arrow Cold Start

Well it was about -15 last night. I checked my oil levels and they are fine. I use Amsoil 5W30. The only other thing is that I didn't have much gas at all. In fact there were no bars on the fuel gauge, although I did drive home after.

Well I get in my car turn the key and start it. As with every cold start it starts and raises the idle to about 2500rpm for a few seconds. Then it lowered the revs very quickly and just turned off. I didn't try give it throttle, nor did I let the clutch out. Then I let it chill for 10 seconds, start it again and everything is back to normal. This has happened once before when it was around -20.

Car drives fine, VTECs fine, and everything seems to be normal. 99500kms. Any ideas as to why this might happen? I'm thinking due to the low amounts of fuel I didn't give the fuel pump enough time to prime and it ran out of gas for a moment ?

could be the fuel thing....wow cold, when its that cold i would worry about putting fuel in on the warm pump. I always read it could, be bad and usually try to kee around 1/4 before dumping freezing cold gas on the pump

This little fuel got jellied in the cold. It's known to have happened. Now diesel doesn't do that. But you might consider installing one of those oilpan warmers, just to save the engine from cold start tearups.

Could also be the MAP. Mine does that sometimes and will shutter down a bit and has stalled out a couple times. I reset the ecu and has been better. Only did that a couple of times last winter.

its normal, shift through all the gears, let the beeping finish and all of that. crank her up but dont let go of the clutch, hold it there till you hear the click, and slowly release. it helps

its the ecu trying to adjust to the extreme cold, its normal, mine will do it on occasion, but i usually catch it and give her a little gas before it stalls

Mine does this to, but at any temp under freezing. I thought it was because of my supercharger. I noticed if I turn the key on and wait 10 a couple secs and than start it, its fine. Also if I turn the key on and of and on again. I assumed its a fuel pump priming issue.
