Default cold start fine. warm start not. battery issue?

i've had my06 for a few months now. the first time it happened i checked the water in the battery and it was completely empty. filled it up with distilled water and car started fine.

started the car in the morning in 30-40 degree weather and it started fine. i stop about ten minutes later to get gas at full operating temp. after i filled up, i needed to hold the start button down longer than usual to get the car started (long enough to know it's not starting properly) this is the 2nd time it's happened. i'm thinking replacing the battery would be the cheapest route to diagnose?

thanks in advance.

You can have your battery tested at any local Autozone. Explain what you mean by taking longer to start. Does it sound like the engine is turning slower and slower before it fires? Or does it just keep turning and turning until it fires?

I think you battery is bad. I just replaced my 06' OEM and 5years seems to be about the total life that can be expected from this battery. Have it checked then replaced.

prior to filling the battery up, it was turn and turn and then fire up. the day after I filled up the battery, it would turn and turn like it was dying then start up. 2nd time was shorter than the 1st time.

Not sure if the battery is OEM. It's a green Interstate battery.

Have the battery load tested. Any auto parts store will do it. If it passes, then I'm going to say it's a grounding issue.

Kind of sounds like a vapour-lock issue (fuel evaporating before it reaches the injectors). Could be a bad ECT or weak fuel pump. Is the car running normal operating temperature once warmed up?
